SALARY: $14/hr - $20/hr

Mid-Del Tech Center’s ELITE program works with adult students who are a part of Oklahoma’s TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) program. The primary goal of ELITE is to provide each student with skills training that can lead to employment. ELITE is an open-entry/open exit program.
This individual will serve as the primary instructor for the ELITE Program. The position requires interpreting and translating facts and information, explaining situations and issues to students and advising them of an alternative course of action. The instructor will provide verbal and online instruction in soft skills and computer software skills.
Salary will be based on education and experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Education is preferred. Associates Degree required. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook. Experience working with computer software programs preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients and employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

This individual must have strong organizational skills and the ability to facilitate multiple subject areas at the same time.
Knowledge of job search/job readiness techniques preferred. Ability to operate specific office equipment and tools.

Strong verbal skills, persuasive and creative skills, ability to work with limited supervision, plan projects and set goals, demonstrate initiative. Understands and is able to effectively use a variety of techniques in order to establish a base of communication with individuals. Communicates clearly and is able to adapt levels of communication to meet the individual at an appropriate level. Must be professional in appearance and conduct. May make public speeches and presentations to large and small groups. Ability to teach these techniques to enhance client placement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts the employee occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The instructor will work 7:30am-2:45pm (Lunch is 10:25am-11:10am) Monday-Friday.

1. Builds working relationships with students to help them meet ELITE goals.
2. Facilitates a variety of subjects which include: core course skills, Microsoft Office Suite, soft skills, and career program skills.
3. Observes learning styles and makes suggestions about special learning needs.
4. Assesses student progress and keeps grade reports. Provides progress reports to the Employment Specialist and Director.
5. Monitors BrainBench competency tests and provides printed test results to the Employment Specialist. Creates BrainBench competency certificates.
6. Keeps daily attendance records on all ELITE students and provides reports to the Employment Specialist. Maintains timesheets for all ELITE students and presents to students for review and signatures on the 1st and 16th of each month.
7. Assists with online financial aid applications.
8. Maintains Financial Aid Checklist on each student showing progress toward a complete financial aid application, including required documentation.
9. Creates and monitors student accounts on OK Career Guide.
10. Assists students with completion of OK Career Guide Pathway Exercises.
11. Creates student Key Train accounts, using pre-test results for Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information, Assigns Career Cluster to Key Train Lessons.
12. Assists students with Key Train activities to prepare them for Work Keys test.
13. Maintains records indicating individuals’ readiness for the Key Train Post-Test.
14. Assists with Key Train Career Skills when requested.
15. Helps new students with enrollment when required.
16. Establishes and maintains a structured, professional classroom environment.
17. Works with students to enhance social skills.
18. Various other responsibilities as assigned.
