POSITION SUMMARY:

This position oversees and supervises the overall operations in a school kitchen/cafeteria. The supervisor organizes and directs kitchen staff to prepare and serve meals, (including cleaning). This position is responsible for completing and maintaining documents to meet USDA food program requirements.

  

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Maintain/participate in daily, weekly, monthly rotation schedules for serving, cleaning, cashiering, and back of the house. While our resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.

 

  1. Train, coach, monitor Child Nutrition staff to enhance both technical skills and customer service skills. Evaluate and document staff performances and discipline. Resolving interpersonal conflicts and motivating others to perform and meet deadlines. Maintaining strict confidentiality.

 

  1. Work cooperatively with all staff members of the Child Nutrition Department, Administration office, District staff, students, parents, & general public.

 

  1. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, follow directions and perform tasks as assigned.

 

  1. Demonstrate the abilities to read/ follow recipes without variances, adjust recipes using the correct weights measures monitoring all food for quality, taste, appearance and control food cost. Plan, prioritize and organizing tasks with changing work priorities and interruptions.

 

  1. Ensure compliance with all Child Nutrition Department, district, local, state & federal requirements, policies, guidelines, rules, procedures & regulations applicable.

 

  1. Maintains accurate child nutrition paperwork/records, to include food and equipment inventories, food production records, food orders, temperature logs, staff time sheets.

 

  1. Learn and operate cafeteria software satisfactorily.

 

  1. Willing to actively pursuit ways to increase meal participation through marketing and promotion.

 

  1. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

 

 

 

 

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles.  The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

 

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
