REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION & CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

 

 

SUMMARY:
Teacher of the Auto Collision Technology program will teach high school and adult
students. Performs responsible instructional duties under limited supervision in a class
and lab setting; prepares students for employment; prepares task analysis; advises
students; grades reports, tests, and progress; and advises the supervisor concerning
textbooks, special equipment, supplies, or other needs. Attends meetings and participates
in overall quality of program and school. An incumbent in this position will utilize
discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Degree preferred, High School diploma acceptable with requirements to achieve
associate’s degree or higher.
• Must hold or qualify for a CareerTech Teacher certification through the
Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education
• Must have at least two years of full-time experience in the subject area.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must have or be working towards ASE Certification in Auto Collision
Technology.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number,
common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw
and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving
mechanical parts, with explosives and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne
particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The
noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBIITIES:
Directly supervises secondary and post-secondary students in the Auto Collision
Technology Program. Teacher carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with
the district’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training students;
planning, assigning, and supervising student live work assignments; evaluating
performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Instructs students by using a variety of instructional techniques, including lecture,
demonstration, return demonstration, audiovisual aids, computer-assisted instruction, and facilitating group and independent study. Records student’s grades and attendance in PowerTeacher.


2. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum
guidelines or requirements of the State Department of Career and Technology Education, State Department of Education and Mid-Del Technology Center. Utilize Auto Collision online curriculum with developed project-based assessments and identifies suitable instructional materials.


3. Prepares evaluation instrument for theory, skills, and product design components
and evaluates the achievement of the student in each area. Also, prepares students
for the approved State Department of Career and Technology Education assessment(s) for the Auto Collision Technology Program and/or ASE student tests.


4. Advises students of progress and/or problems in meeting objectives. Advises the Director of Instruction and parents of students not meeting objectives.


5. Participates in IEP meetings when appropriate and adapt lesson plans as indicated
on the IEP. Writes and implements a plan of improvement for students in need of
intervention to pass an approved Oklahoma Department of CareerTech assessment test for Auto Collision Technology program.


6. Maintains a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom and lab environment
while presenting a professional role model for students by wearing clothing, grooming, actions, and practices related to the Auto Collision occupation. Shares responsibility in care of equipment and facilities.


7. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings, enrollment night, and other designated meetings.


8. Performs duties of SkillsUSA Auto Collision Technology’ advisor, assists students in job placement, assists students in placement on OJT sites and supervises students while they are assigned, and completing student follow-up.


9. Prepares students for work related jobs upon completion of program with
assignment of student live work to enhance learning. Working cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration, and work-based training site employers.


10. Prepares adequate lesson plans for substitute when teacher is absent and maintains
an emergency lesson plan on file in the main office.
