POSITION SUMMARY:

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma license for motor vehicles.
  • Must maintain confidential information of sensitive nature.
  • Must be available for unscheduled, emergency call.
  • Shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  1. The employee shall be required to manage and supervise the daily field operations of the Painting Department. Employee must be reliable, dependable and required minimum supervision.  Neatness in appearance, courteous and tactful in dealing with other employees or the general public.

 

  1. Employee shall have extensive knowledge in the mixing and application of all type of paints, coatings, and water proofers. Must be skilled in the selection of a wide range of paint types and their applications to a number of different surface types. Must be experienced in the mixing and application of drywall compounds.

 

  1. Occasionally may be required to assist in the construction, repair and installation of counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim. After the construction of these pieces, the employee will be responsible for the finish to be applied. Occasionally may be required to assist in the installation of glass in windows, doors and partitions.  Occasionally may be required to assist in the replacement and installation of insulating materials in building framework as well as roofs.  Occasionally may be required to assist in the replacement of damaged ceiling tiles, floor tile and wall covering.

 

  1. Must exhibit good communications skills towards Principals, Teachers, Food Service Personnel, Custodians and students. Must perform as part of an overall maintenance team working for the timely completion of all assigned tasks, and at times working in different departments.  Should be skilled in proper time management. Should develop a working knowledge of vendors, Paint Department budgets, purchase orders, work orders, and call-in work requests.

 

  1. Must be skilled in the proper respirator protection level required for the paint, lacquer, varnish, stains, etc. used and shall also be responsible for the use of this equipment when handling these chemicals. Employee shall be required to safely operate large to moderately sized compressed air sand blasting equipment.

 

  1. Employee must regularly complete painting tasks from ladders, aerial bucket trucks, or cat walk systems at height not to exceed 110'.

 

  1. Employee shall manage and update the daily purchases made from all vendor accounts assigned to the Paint Department. Employee shall regularly be required to secure price quotes on projects being considered. Employee will be required to assemble these quotes in a format that can be understood by administrators.  Will be required to purchase, maintain, and account for all inventory used in the Paint Department. The employee will also be required to submit a detailed inventory account yearly.

 

  1. Employee shall be skilled in the safe handling, use, storage, and proper disposal of hazardous materials to include but not be limited to acids, alkalis, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals.

 

  1. Employee shall also have a complete knowledge of A.D.A. signage, it’s applications, and color designations. Employee shall also be skilled in the proper application of these to parking areas and all handicapped areas found in district buildings.

 

  1. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

 

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles.  The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

 

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
