SALARY SCHEDULE:     CERTIFIED TEACHER SCHEDULE

 

DEPARTMENT:              ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION

 

FLSA STATUS:               EXEMPT

 

SAFETY-SENSITIVE:     YES

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with

district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with

students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

     • Teaching certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education recognized by the State ofOklahoma

     • Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred

     • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

     1. Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annualchild counts

         and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teaches academic                   content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and                     activities aligned to current state standards.

 

     2. Adheres to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.

 

     3. Able to provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.

 

     4. Instructs pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.

 

     5. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in

         order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

 

     6. Monitors and evaluates pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep 

         appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

 

     7. Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's 

         progress and interpret the school program.

 

     8. Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and providing       

         interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social-emotional, and academic needs.

 

     9. Enhances professional pedagogy through in-service education provided by the district and self-selected

         professional growth opportunities. In addition to this, sets goals for professional growth and seeks guidance.

 

    10. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

 

 

 

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles.  The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

 

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
