JOB DESCRIPTION:          SECONDARY VOCAL MUSIC  

 

SALARY SCHEDULE:         CERTIFIED TEACHER SCHEDULE

 

DEPARTMENT:                  SECONDARY INSTRUCTION

 

FLSA STATUS:                  EXEMPT

 

SAFETY-SENSITIVE:        YES

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop musically, academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator and fine arts coordinator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma   
  • Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

 

  1. Demonstrates stated criteria for effective teaching performance.

 

  1. Coordinates transportation and facilities for all contests, activities, & fundraising with the principal and Director of Choirs.

 

  1. Assists in maintaining the district facilities, inventory - including all music files, uniforms, classroom furniture, equipment and technology.

 

  1. Builds positive school-community relations by creating an environment acceptable for representation of the school district and community at-large.

 

  1. Completes reports and other school related paperwork within stated timelines.

 

  1. Accepts responsibility and is punctual for activities and duties as assigned for the choir department grades 6 - 12.

 

  1. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.

 

  1. Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health, and personal appearance.

 

  1. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.

 

  1. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

 

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
