REPORTS TO: CLASSROOM TEACHER

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Dress in appropriate clothing.
  2. Assist students with daily task (flag salute, etc.).
  3. Do individual tutoring.
  4. Do toilet training.
  5. Work with small group activities.
  6. Assist students with appropriate behavior.
  7. Assist teacher with proper room maintenance.
  8. Do laundry (as needed).
  9. Do recess duty with teacher.
  10. Assist principal and teachers with bus duty.
  11. Do cleaning (showering, diaper changing, etc.).
  12. Assist teacher with daily classroom duties (duplicating materials, etc.
  13. Assist with cafeteria supervision.
  14. Perform any other duties as assigned by the principal.
