REPORTS TO:          DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION

 

FLSA STATUS:         NON-EXEMPT

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily or above. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Must have the ability to obtain or hold a minimum CDL, Class B license with all required endorsements and school bus certification (training can and will be provided). Must pass physical, drug testing, background felony check, and background drive check.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma preferred or general education degree (GED).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose and write correspondence, memos and fill out bus reports. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school and other District employees.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and drag up to 120 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in extreme cold (outdoor weather conditions) and extreme heat (including direct sunlight). The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to very loud.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Obeys all traffic laws.
  2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  3. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  4. Reports undisciplined student to the proper authority.
  5. Keeps assigned bus clean.
  6. Keeps to assigned schedule.
  7. Performs proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  9. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  10. Exercises responsible leadership on district route assignments and school trips.
  11. Transports only authorized students.
  12. Reports accidents and completes required reports.
  13. Expected to use professional conduct at all times
  14. Fulfills Board Policy to exhibit dress and appearance that is neat, clean and orderly.
  15. Perform all duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
