                                    12 month/235 Day Contract

REPORTS TO:         Chief Operating Officer – Mid-Del Technology Center

 

FLSA:                      Exempt

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Instruction will drive the implementation of all CTE programs working with the vertical team and others to ensure that all students are successfully engaged in a pathway toward college and career success.  The Director will oversee the development and ongoing review, maintenance and support of highly effective CTE programming at MDTC, driving implementation of viable pathways to college and career for students in the program.  CTE programs currently span 12 career pathways, 18 approved programs and 38 career majors. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree, Administrative Certification, Vocational Certification and ten years’ experience in education.  Secondary Principal and/or Career Tech Site Director experience preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

State Department of Education – Secondary Principal Certification and Technology Center Standard Administrator credentials.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts the employee occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation, and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBIITIES:

The Director’s primary responsibility will be to oversee all CTE programs at MDTC while building and strengthening the school’s capacity to offer high quality, industry-specific coursework to students.  The goal will be to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan to improve career development outcomes for our students.  In addition, the Director will work closely with other school sites, district staff and with local businesses to expand opportunities for students to engage directly in career experiences.

  4. Inspire and gain the commitment of others toward creating college and career pathways for students in programs that align to the overall college and career readiness focus.
  5. Develop program offerings and pathways that will be valued in the 21st century market.
  6. Provide leadership within the culture built upon collaboration, trust and the creation of innovation, high-quality instructional programs that reflect cutting edge trends in business and education
  7. Establish and maintain the learning environment of rigor and relevance through visible engagement with faculty and students in and beyond the classroom.
  8. Maintain and enhance partnerships and resources related to area business, industries and labor organizations.
  9. Monitors and evaluates the viability and effectiveness of full time programs in order to meet program goals and objectives, meet the needs of the student and funding resources.
  10. Maintain memberships and participation in professional organizations devoted to career education.
  11. Directs the collection, preparation and submission of state agency forms and reports necessary for career center operations.
  12. Lead in the coordination of MDTC’s accreditation process with ODCTE.
  13. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.
