JOB TITLE: Aircraft Maintenance Instructor

DEPARTMENT: MDTC – Tinker Technology Center

REPORTS TO: Director of Tinker Technology Center

 

SUMMARY:
Instruct trainees in general aircraft mechanics skills and knowledge through classroom theory, demonstration, and hands-on training on aircraft trainers, T-38, C-135, E-3, E-6, B1, B2, and B-52 aircraft. Teach classroom theory, demonstrates and supervises student practice on all aircraft systems, and assist other instructor as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED. Minimum of 5 years of journeyman aircraft maintenance experience. Prior teaching experience helpful. High degree of knowledge and skills in military related aircraft mechanics. Be able to present classroom theory in progressive learning steps. Must have patience to work with beginning students.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The noise level in the work environment is usually heavy to moderate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with developing and updating curriculum as required
2. Make suggestions on needed changes to classroom material
3. Stay current with Tech Data and review TO (Technical Orders) regulations
4. Teach all subject matter with organized lesson plans
5. Demonstrate use of Technical Orders
6. Complete student evaluations, all paperwork, and necessary reports
7. Maintain training aides and equipment are in good working condition
8. Maintain cleanliness in classroom, instructor office, TO library and shop/break areas
9. Mentor and assist other instructors as needed
10. All instructors will be crossed trained to teach various subjects
11. Substitute for instructors as required
12. Will travel to various sites on TAFB to conduct classes if needed
13. Be able to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other software programs as needed
14. Mandatory CBTs (Computer Based Training) for TAFB and Mid-Del
15. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or Director
